A) Train your student leaders (but first, train the leader of these leaders) Your activities director’s and advisors’ opportunity for training is at the annual CADA State Conference held each March. Find information on the website: http://secure.cada1.org/i4a/pages/index.cfm?pageid=3438 Master Activity Advisor Certification: The program goal is to provide the educational community with highly trained advisors by having participants complete all 9 courses that comprise the CADA Certification Program and award them the designation of Master Activity Advisor – MAA. Your student leaders can be found across your campus doing a variety of things and wearing many different hats. Find these leaders and train them. Training includes things like goal-setting, organization and time management, communication skills, personal and social responsibilities (ethics in leadership), some business as well as marketing skills, service learning, and government (structure, democracy, meeting skills, parliamentary procedure). Leadership training is available through CADA on multiple dates and at various locations: Area conferences in the fall and possibly the spring.
